Esquimalt Music Parents Association
The Esquimalt Music Parents Association supports the Esquimalt Music Department in concert with Ms. Allison, Mr. Leeson, and Ms. Treble to provide a positive musical enrichment for students. Your student’s registration in the music program gives you automatic membership to EMPA.
A student's participation in a music program provides a holistic experience which not only improves a student's musical abilities but expands their skills in time-management, teamwork, responsibility, commitment and social contacts. It also means a safe environment for performance development and the opportunity to further develop a persons leadership skills.
The Esquimalt Music Parents Association is loosely comprised of all parents, guardians and caregivers of the music students at Esquimalt High School. The EMPA board is a volunteer group of members which supports the Esquimalt Music Department by working closely with and supporting the Esquimalt High School Music faculty to provide a positive musical enrichment for all participating music students.
Participation in the EMPA board can be as a board member or specific event volunteer providing the chance to meet the other adults and students involved in the program. There are typically three face-to-face meetings a year with the majority of work being done secretarially. Esquimalt Music Parents Association plays an integral role in leading fundraising for the program. Funds raised through EMPA are directly applied to the music program to help fund things like clinicians, travel expenses, festival fees, printed music costs for expanded repertoire, instrument expansion as well as repair of existing instruments as well as numerous other program expenses not funded by the District at this time. EMPA also provides dedicated fundraising opportunities for students where 75% of proceeds earned by participating students are placed in trust for the student to use towards music activities and supplies.
Feel free to contact the EMPA team at email@example.com for any questions and to volunteer to help with specific events and fundraisers!
